Mr. K's Recycle & Redemption Center is conducting a free electronics recycling collection event in Kona on January 2, 2024. This is an electronics manufacturer-sponsored event.
The new schedule for Kona electronics recycling collections will be Tuesdays & Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Acceptable electronics include: TVs, computers, laptops, tablets, computer keyboards & mice, computer monitors, printers, VCRs, CD/DVD/Blu Ray players, stereo receivers/amplifiers (no speakers), UPS systems, digital cameras, mobile and landline telephones. Items not on this list will not be accepted for recycling.
Also accepting lead-acid batteries at these collection events. May pay you scrap value for lead-acid batteries based on market price. Also accepting photovoltaic solar panels for recycling, call for more info and pricing.
Businesses and agencies are required to schedule an appointment for drop-off and provide a detailed list of electronic items they want to recycle. For appointments please contact Mr. K's Recycle & Redemption at 808-969-1222 to schedule. Households do not need to make an appointment.

The State of Hawai‘i recently enacted Act 151 (2022), which mandates that “Manufacturers [of televisions, computers, computer monitors and printers] must fully fund their recycling plan, including the collection, transportation, and recycling of all [their covered] electronic devices in the State.” These plans include “Manufacturer recycling goals,” and the plans “shall provide collection services at a minimum of once per month” “at no cost to the owner” in certain population centers (e.g. Kailua-Kona and/or Hilo) starting in January 2023.
