April 1, 2016
Throughout the month of April all Solid Waste Division Recycling & Transfer Stations will be open during the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) to encourage households to remove materials that may promote the spread of Dengue at home and recycle or dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner. Recycle or dispose of any unnecessary materials around your home that may collect and store standing water that could become potential breeding areas for mosquitoes that transmit Dengue Fever.
For more information on how to prevent breeding areas for mosquitoes at your residence please visit the State of Hawai‘i Department of Health's Fight the Bite website (http://health.hawaii.gov/docd/dengue-outbreak-2015/) or download the Eliminate Mosquito Breeding Sites flyer.
This Spring Household Dengue Cleanup is coordinated by County of Hawai‘i Civil Defense and the Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division. Mahalo for your kōkua in helping keep our island community healthy, clean and Dengue-free.
