Due to Tropical Storm Flossie approaching Hawai‘i Island the following County of Hawai‘i Solid Waste Facilities have been closed today: All Recycling & Transfer Stations (including HI-5 Certified Redemption Centers, Reuse Centers, Recycling Bins and Greenwaste Recycling located at the Recycling & Transfer Stations), Hilo Landfill and Pu‘uanahulu Landfill.  Also all County of Hawai‘i offices including the Administrative offices of the County of Hawai‘i Solid Waste Division have been closed for natural disaster preparation.

We apologize for this inconvenience and plan to reopen our facilities as soon as Civil Defense has determined that it is safe to resume normal operations.  For the schedule of normal hours of operation for Recycling & Transfer Stations and Landfills go to our Facilitiespage.  Please note that the Honomū, Kalapana, Pa'auilo, Volcano, & Waiea Recycling & Transfer Stations are likely to reopen on Thursday, August 1, 2013 on their normal Mon-Thurs-Sat schedule pending any possible extended closures.
