NEW ASSISTED LOADING OF MULCH SERVICE AVAILABLE IN KAILUA-KONA

County of Hawai‘i is pleased to announce a new program for West Hawai‘i!  Beginning, Thursday, July 24, 2014, the Kealakehe Recycling and Transfer Station in Kailua-Kona will offer assisted mechanical loading of mulch.  Free mulch is also available for manual (no mechanized equipment allowed) self-loading at the Kealakehe Site 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The service will be offered Thursdays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. only.  There will be a small loading fee of $5.00 to $18.00 depending upon the size and type of vehicle.  Customers will be required to pay at the time of service and will be served on a first come basis while supplies of mulch are available.  For mulch availability or questions about payment of fees, contact Hawaiian Earth Products at 808-935-2277.

MINIMUM LOAD FEE:  (any load less than 1/2 yard)  $      5.00
SMALL PICKUP TRUCKS:  (Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier) ½ to 1 yard loads  $      5.00
FULL SIZE PICKUP TRUCKS:  (F-150, F-350, trucks with 6-8 foot bed (1.5 to 3.5 yard loads  $      8.00
UTILITY/LANDSCAPE TRUCKS:  (F-450 to F-750 sized trucks with staked side or dump beds) 4 to 8 yard loads  $   12.00
TANDEM DUMP TRUCKS, SUPER TANDEM DUMP TRUCKS AND SMALL END DUMP TRAILERS:  (10 to 20 yard loads)  $   15.00
SUPER END DUMP TRAILERS: (20 plus yard loads)  $   18.00

Please note that the only forms of acceptable payment are MasterCard and VISA debit/credit cards.  No cash or checks will be accepted.  This facility also has mulch available for manual self loading without any fees during normal hours of operation.  Please make sure your vehicle has a tarp or other method for covering your mulch load to avoid spillage on roadways.

Mulch has many benefits including improving the quality of your soil, providing an insulating layer on topsoil, keeping weeds down and minimizing water needs.
