The Honoka‘a Recycling and Transfer Station is closed momentarily due to debris on Highway 19 from yesterday’s high wind event.

The waste trailer located at the Honoka‘a RTS chute cannot be transported to the landfill in West Hawai‘i until the road is reopened.

Solid Waste Division is working on sending an empty trailer from Hilo, at which time the Honoka‘a transfer station is expected to reopen to the public sometime later this afternoon. The scheduled closure is at 6 p.m.
