Pursuant to Hawaiʻi Revised Statues, Chapter 290, the County of Hawai‘i (“County”) will conduct an auction of abandoned vehicles.  The vehicles offered for sale will be sold “AS IS” and “WHERE IS” to the highest bidder.  The County will issue NO WARRANTIES.  Sealed bids will be accepted in Hilo and Kona by in person delivery or by mail.  Bids will be opened on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers located at West Hawaiʻi Civic Center 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building A, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi.  The winning bidders will be notified via telephone by Friday, October 2, 2015.

Sealed bids will be accepted in the following manner, on the following dates, at the following locations (Please note dates and times differ by location):

Department of Environmental Management, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building D, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.  Bids must arrive in the Department of Environmental Management office before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 30, 2015.  Bids received after September 30, 2015 will be returned unopened to bidders.

b.         In person delivery/drop off:

Bidders shall be solely responsible for the timely submission of their bid.  No exceptions.

Bidders must include with their sealed bid, a deposit of twenty five percent (25%) of the bid price in cash or draft drawn on a financial institution (cashier’s check, traveler’s check, money order) made payable to the Director of Finance, County of Hawai‘i.  No personal checks or debit/credit cards will be accepted as the deposit payment.  Bids must be at or above the upset price and will be accepted in whole dollar amounts only.  Only signed bids will be accepted.

Please note that vehicles being offered for sale may be reclaimed by the legal/registered owner(s) upon payment of all expenses incurred on or before 12:00 NOON of Friday, September 25, 2015.

All vehicles may be viewed at the County of Hawaiʻi, Abandoned Vehicle Impound Lot located at 74-598 Hale Mākaʻi  Place, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi on the following dates and times:

Sunday, September 27, 2015              7:30 a.m. -   4:00 p.m.

Monday, September 28, 2015              7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, September 29, 2015             7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, September 30, 2015         9:30 a.m. -   1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Winning bidders must remove the vehicles at their own expense via tow truck by the following dates and times:

Friday, October 2, 2015                     following award until 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, October 3, 2015                  8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Monday, October 5, 2015                    8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, October 6, 2015                   8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Failure to remove the vehicle(s) may result in forfeiture of the deposit and any other payments made.
